BBDO's Asia chief So quits
Raymond So, BBDO's Asia-Pacific chairman, has resigned four years after taking on the role, citing management differences. "I've always wanted to work according to my own principles of what I see is fair and good for the company, but starting from early this year, I have had differences of opinion with the worldwide BBDO office," So told Media. Taiwan-based So, whose departure had been speculated on for some time, is the second regional chief of an Omnicom network to resign in as many weeks, after Aaron Lau, chairman Asia, and president and CEO China, gave notice. Industry sources have linked his resignation to growing pressure by head office to bolster regional margins, with So insisting that the Asia network had been turning in a healthy performance within a year of his appointment. As contracted, So is giving six months' notice.
