Wilson will relinquish his regional planning director role to oversee planning for all BBDO Singapore clients. He will also chair the network's Asia planning council, which launched six months ago.
"We are not known for our planning function, which has been overshadowed by our creative reputation," said Jean-Paul Burge, managing director of BBDO Singapore. "But we've got some great planners, and Andy's appointment will help bring them together and drive our planning offering across the region."
Burge added that the need for a planning council has been driven by clients on the back of increased business from Fonterra, P&G and Visa. Wilson, he said, has a mandate to bring in more people and has a bigger budget for entering effectiveness awards.
Wilson said: “I am delighted by the enlarged role – it has been fantastic being part of the momentum that we’ve been building at BBDO, and I look forward to playing my part in building a formidable team of brand and consumer thinkers."
