TAIPEI: J. Walter Thompson's former CEO for Northeast Asia, Raymond
So, has been named Asia-Pacific chairman of BBDO, a newly-created post
which observers say signals the group's renewed ambitions in Asia. Tom
Kao, its former president for Hong Kong and China, has also returned as
deputy chairman.
So's role was previously the responsibility of agency network president
Jean-Michel Goudard. So, who will oversee nine countries, has passed
over Hong Kong or Singapore - the usual choice for a regional hub - for
Taipei.
Kao will be based in Hong Kong. Prior to their appointments, both men
were with Hong Kong telecoms provider PCCW.
