BBDO lands $3m pharmaceutical brand in China

SHANGHAI: BBDO/CNUAC has won a US$3 million assignment from Dong Er Er Jiao, one of the top four traditional Chinese medicine brands, and it is preparing to launch a multimedia campaign for the company.

The agency won the business after a credentials pitch, which also involved Grey Worldwide and local agencies. Media planning and buying will remain inhouse. BBDO/CNUAC chief executive officer Lau Seng Yee said the appointment marked the first time that Dong Er had signed a long-term contract with a multinational agency.

The move comes amid continued intense competition among pharmaceutical brands, which are among the biggest-spending advertising categories in China today. "Dong Er said they were impressed with the experience we have accumulated and insights we have about Chinese consumers,
