Bates Asia has pulled in more than US$25 million in new
business across the region during the first quarter of 2000.
The wins resulted in its revenue jumping 21 per cent on the year to
US$13.2 million from US$11 million for the first three
months of last year.
"This not only shows that Asia's economy is recovering, it underlines
the fact that it is recovering where it matters most: Hong Kong,
Singapore, China and Taiwan," Bates Asia regional president Jeffrey Yu
told MEDIA.
The agency's new wins included Warner Lambert brand Lipitor regionally,
asiaone.com in Singapore; 2Cube.com and Coca-Cola's summer promotion in
Hong Kong; Chinaren.com in China; Nestea in Thailand and BAT assignments
in Indonesia.
In addition, General Motors in China has consolidated all its
advertising assignments with Bates after the car maker assigned the
agency to also service Jinbei GM following a competitive pitch against
McCann-Erickson.
