HONG KONG: Bates Advertising outgunned five agency rivals to rein

in the HKdollars 50 million (USdollars 6.4 million) Cheung Kong Holdings

account for two residential properties.

Its management supervisor, Tommy Cheng, said Bates pitched against

Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, FCB, Grey and M&C Saatchi for the

HKdollars 30 million Caribbean Coast business. The other property

project, The Sky Tower, located near the old Kai Tak airport, is being

jointly developed by Cheung Kong, New World Development and Shanghai

International Holdings.

According to Bates, both campaigns are scheduled for launch later this

year.

Separately, Bates has appointed Susan Lam as group account director.

Lam was previously with Bates' integrated communication agency 141

Malaysia.
