Bates buys China digital agency Evision

SHANGHAI - Bates141 has acquired a majority stake in Chinese digital boutique agency Evision, marking its third mainland acquisition in the past 14 months.

Bates141 regional chairman Jeffrey Yu declined to disclose either the size or value of the stake, but pointed out that “this acquisition will allow us to strengthen our overall integrated offering to clients, to help them change their consumers’ mindsets and shopping behaviour”.
“We chose to partner with Bates 141 because it is an opportunity to help our clients’ brands create greater engagement with their consumers across multiple touch points, to help them further succeed in China and help our local clients expand into the region and beyond,” added Herbert Chen, managing director of Evision.
Based in Shanghai, Evision was founded in 2003 and specialises in interactive design, mobile marketing, CRM and online media planning and buying, with a client portfolio that includes Nike, KFC, Sprite, Intel, Diageo brands, Wyeth, Bao Steel and Mentos. Evision has also established long term partnerships with six of China’s largest portals – Sohu, Sina, Netease, QQ, Mop and MSN.
This is Bates 141’s third acquisition in China, following the formation of Bates MeThinks in October and Bates Apex in February in 2007.
