Bank puts a stop to Grey anti-terror bid

MUMBAI Grey Worldwide's pro bono campaign, 'Opera-tion Citizen Alert' - which involved placing 1,000 one-rupee coins around railway stations and trains - has been halted at the request of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

MUMBAI Grey Worldwide? pro bono campaign, 'Opera-tion Citizen Alert' - which involved placing 1,000 one-rupee coins around railway stations and trains - has been halted at the request of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The campaign was developed for the Mumbai Railway Police to encourage commuters to be wary of suspicious baggage and people. The message 'If you are alert to unattended baggage, lives can be saved' was printed on both sides of the coins.

However, RBI has stated  that, by law, there should be no writing/messages on "Instruments of national honour", which include coinage, said Alpana Killawalla, RBI spokesperson. "RBI, however, respects the sentiment behind the campaign."

Grey responded with a broader campaign featuring stickers bearing images of luxury objects such as jewellery and perfume.
