Bangkok RAI rebrands and links to MP Group

Bangkok Bangkok RAI, an international exhibition and congress organiser, has been re-branded AsiaCongress Events (AC) after forming a joint venture with Singapore's MP Group.

The company, which was a wholly owned subsidiary of Amsterdam RAI and founded under Thailand's Board of Investment with privileges, said its global network had been reinforced by the venture due to the MP Group being part of the PICO Group, Asia's leading global events marketing firm. PICO has strong recognition in Singapore, Hong Kong and mainland China, as well as healthy industry relationships in Europe and the US. "The end of the Amsterdam RAI ownership will not weaken cooperation between the companies,'' AC managing director Marcel Ewals said. "On the contrary, through extensive negotiations an agreement has been set which will make AC Amsterdam RAI's sole representative in south and southeast Asia.'' Ewals said this applied to all international RAI titles coming to Asia as well as those headed from Asia to Europe. "Cooperating with Amsterdam RAI on a commercial basis places AC in the position of an important client,'' Ewals said. AC now also represents other non-RAI events from organisers such as the UK's Turret Group and DMG Media as well as Singapore's Suntec Integrated Media. To support its "hub-type'' Bangkok operation, the company will open offices on Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and China.
