Bangkok named host city for 2010 Zonta convention

BANGKOK Thailand has won the right to host the Zonta International Convention in 2010.

The prestigious event is expected to attract more than 3,000 leading businesswomen from around the world to Bangkok. Zonta International represents the world's leading business and professional women from 70 countries and has 35,000 members. Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau director — convention sector, Suprabha Moleeratanond, said: "This shows Thailand is a safe and attractive destination with ready infrastructure to become the regional business tourism hub of Southeast Asia." She added that the venue had not yet been decided, although it would either be the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre or the soon-to-be completed Central World Hotel and Convention Centre. However Central World Hotel and Convention Centre is confident of snagging the event. "No other venue delivers a fully integrated hotel, convention centre and retail/lifestyle venue in the CBD of Bangkok," said Chris Bailey, vice-president sales and marketing, Central Hotels & Resorts.
