Auto account win kickstarts Publicis Fuzhou

FUZHOU - Publicis China will launch a new operation in Fuzhou after securing creative duties for Southeast Motors' Mitsubishi V3 model, after a pitch against Ogilvy Fuzhou and a local agency.

Media duties will be handled by Starcom.

The Publicis Fuzhou operation will consist of six to 10 people working on the Southeast Motors account, before gradually pitching for local business, according to Publicis China CEO Sheena Jeng (pictured).

The Mitsubishi V3 is positioned as an urban car for people in the provinces. Key competitors are Chery and Nissan. Adspend is forecast at Rmb 80 million (US$11 million) for the first year.

Meanwhile, in Taiwan, Publicis Modem is poised for launch as the third local market following its rollout in Singapore last year. The first hire is Sean Tsai, previously withOgilvyOne Taiwan, who comes on board as CD and acting head.

Publicis Modem Asia regional MD Arlene Ang added that Publicis is in the process of acquiring another digital agency in Taiwan. “The head of that agency will become the general manager of Publicis Modem Taiwan,” said Ang.

She added that the next Publicis Modem office will be in Hong Kong or Beijing.
