Australia launches conventions body

AUSTRALIA Top convention cities in Australia have united under a peak organisation called Conventions Australia. As Australia's first national industry-led entity, Conventions Australia aims to increase the number of international conventions by 10% by 2010.

The new body is made up of 12 venues and convention bureaux, representing Australia and itseight convention destinations –Cairns, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide,Perth and the Northern Territory. The body will mount an initial three-year marketing campaign.
Conventions Australia chairman Martin Winter said the new body had overcome the rivalry between Australian cities to present a united face for the country’s conference sector.For further information, visit www.conventionsaustralia.com.au.
