Karen Ho, former CEO at Initiative China, has joined Stagwell's media agency Assembly as managing director for the Greater China region, effective immediately. Reporting to APAC CEO Richard Brosgill, Ho will lead efforts to accelerate growth across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Ho is a seasoned media leader with over 20 years of industry experience, including her most recent role as CEO of Initiative China, where she focused on driving client relationships, business growth, and development since January 2021. During her tenure, she led the agency’s growth efforts and managed major accounts such as Volkswagen Group China, Bridgestone and GM Ultium. She exited the agency in April 2024 and prior to that, served as chief growth officer at Wavemaker China and held senior positions at OMD and Isobar.

At Assembly, Ho will oversee growth initiatives, strengthen client partnerships, and lead innovation across product, talent, and technology in Greater China. She will also focus on enhancing cross-market collaboration to deliver integrated solutions that support both local and international client ambitions.

At Assembly, Ho will oversee a portfolio of key clients in Greater China, including the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, APM Monaco, Clarins, and American Eagle Outfitters.

"Karen is a visionary leader with unparalleled market insights and a true appetite to build," said Brosgill. "Her leadership will be pivotal as we invest strategically into the Greater China region and look ahead to a new chapter of growth as we continue to deliver campaigns that drive both brand and business impact."

Ho’s appointment follows Assembly’s recent elevation of Vivian Mok to managing director of North Asia.

"I have long admired Assembly for its bold approach to innovation and commitment to excellence," Ho said. "I resonate deeply with the agency’s proposition to Find the Change to Fuel Growth, something I have been committed to fulfilling throughout my career. I’m energised to partner with their talented teams and clients to unlock new growth opportunities in this diverse and fast-evolving region."

Ho will be based in Assembly's Hong Kong office while maintaining a presence in Shanghai, splitting her time between the two locations.
