Asia Inc loses Mellor to Asiaweek

Mr William Mellor has quit as editor-in-chief of Asia-Inc to take

up the post of senior editor at Asiaweek.

His place has been taken by Mr David Uren, who was previously the editor

of Australian business magazine, Business Review Weekly.

Mr Mellor's move comes after Asia-Inc merged its operations with

regional conference organisation Pacific Rim Forum. The aim of the

merger was said to be to meet the needs of corporate clients and

business readers for insights to the rapidly changing Asian business

landscape.

The merger was accompanied by a shift in the editorial positioning of

Asia-Inc to provide more analysis of management, financial and business

policy issues for business in the region.

It is also introducing a new section on science-based innovation,

particularly life sciences, and its implications for the future business

of Asia.

About a year ago, the monthly publication was bought out by Mr Timothy

Ong, one of Asia's top businessmen, who relaunched the magazine about

six months later.

Asia-Inc has had a chequered history. It was launched in 1992 but was

seldom in the black. At one stage, staff pooled their resources to buy

out the magazine in order to keep it running.
