The brighter outlook comes amid signs that the global economy is
improving.
But Richard Eardley, executive director of ACNielsen International
Research, said this was also due to the fact that the life cycle of
hi-tech goods was much shorter than for other products.
"Last year, many people put off making major purchases because of the
economic situation, but for things like mobile phones and computers,
they can defer for only so long. It's not like a car, or a house or
taking a long holiday. You have to replace them sooner than later,"
Eardley said.
The survey questioned 8,000 people in eight markets, including China,
Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Australia.
