Araw prize goes to Campaigns & Grey for Ligo ad

Campaigns & Grey scooped the grand prize in the Araw Awards, the highest accolade in the Philippine ad industry, for a radio spot for Ligo, a brand of canned goods, which was also named Advertiser of the Year.

Based on its Araw win, Campaigns emerged as the top-ranked agency (one grand prize, nine golds, three silvers and five bronzes), followed by TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno (three golds, eight silvers and 18 bronzes) and Leo Burnett (three golds, four silvers and 13 bronzes). This year's competition and conference was themed 'Ready for the World?', and to bring the competition up to international standards, the awards committee invited several foreign judges, including John Merrifield, ECD of TBWA/Japan, and Prasoon Joshi, South and Southeast Asia creative director of McCann Erickson. The competition attracted 2,740 entries, of which only 13 per cent made it to the finals. The awards are given every other year at the end of the Philippine Ad Congress.
