Antics Media unveils new social media platform

MALAYSIA – Antics Media, under the Antics Group of companies, has taken the wraps off its latest project, StyleKandi, with its beta phase set for launch on 8 March, and due to be fully launched on 31 March.

StyleKandi to be fully launched on 31 March 2011

The social platform seeks to be the top Malaysian social platform wherein users can initiate trends, as well as share style and fashion tips with one another.  With ‘Collective inspiration’ as its tagline, it will prominently feature related blog content regionally to serve as an almanac for all things stylish and new.

In StyleKandi, a user can upload their blog posts, share their pictures, post their Flickr photos and synchronise from their preferred social networking sites to share with the community instantly.

Explaining the platform’s rationale further, David Barton-Grimley, managing director of the Antics Group, said that “people are now making their purchasing decisions based on what you think is cool, not what a magazine editor or high-street brand tells us we should buy. But this conversation is fragmented; it’s on Facebook profiles, blog comments, tweets and forums around the internet. Try to imagine a platform that brings all this content together in one, stylised space. That’s our aim.”

Antics Media pointed out that StyleKandi allows bloggers to extend their influence and gain greater exposure by linking their blog to the platform and sharing their ideas and inspiration with people across the globe. StyleKandi uses a sophisticated algorithm to determine how ‘cool’ a post or look is, and the online community will eventually determine its popularity.

“This is a very exciting time for us and for Malaysia as this is an opportunity to put the country on the map when it comes to the creation of an innovative social networking site,” explained Mark Wills, managing director of Antics Media.

He adds that the biggest challenge was in understanding and integrating all that a social networker or blogger might want in one social networking application. In the end though, Wills is confident that the firm has managed to incorporate all aspects required to complement a social networker’s routine such as usefulness, creative style and user friendliness, while simultaneously delivering a unique product.

At the moment, users can already sign up for a beta version of the site on Stylekandi.com.
