The group posted proof of the success of its attacks with passwords extracted from the website of the Prime Minister's Department, reports GreyReview.
Anonymous had warned the Malaysian government earlier this week of this attack following a leaked proposal by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to ban selected file sharing websites in a bid to end online piracy.
Overall though, as these sites were mostly information providers, members of the public were largely unaffected.
