Andersson to depart Ogilvy

BEIJING - Nils Andersson (pictured) has resigned as group executive director of Ogilvy Beijing after almost five years in the role.

According to an internal statement issued by Shenan Chuang, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Group China, Andersson is working on a project for Enfatico, the agency established by WPP to handle Dell’s advertising, marketing and public relations business. He will continue to be based in Beijing. His future intentions beyond that project have not been disclosed.

Ogilvy has yet to announce a replacement. In the interim, regional creative president Eugene Cheong will be stationed in Beijing for one week per month to oversee creative development.

In addition to his role as executive director, Andersson served as Greater China ECD and chaired the agency’s creative council.

Describing him as “a gentleman with brains”, Chuang noted that Andersson had helped to “establish a Greater China creative unity that hadn’t previously existed”.

“He deserves our most sincere gratitude,” Chuang said.
