Amour moves to Singapore base as Grey AP chief

Grey Global Group has found a regional chief in Mike Amour, who has been appointed to the role seven months after the last Asia-Pacific head Eric Rosenkranz left.

Amour, who joined Grey 18 months ago to work on network clients, takes up the role as chairman and CEO in January 2005 from interim regional director Jon Fox. Amour has lofty ambitions for the region, saying the Grey operation displayed a strong entrepreneurial spirit, which could form the building blocks for the agency of the future. In the region to meet the team, Amour would not be drawn into discussions on the impact of WPP's purchase on the group, but said WPP offered extensive resources that Grey could leverage for growth. He also noted that both WPP's chairman Sir Martin Sorrell and Grey's chairman, president and CEO Ed Meyer were bullish about the region. "WPP has the resources we could tap into and combined with Sorrell's and Ed's commitment to the region, we have the possibility to unlock the potential within Grey in the next five years." The former TBWA and Wieden & Kennedy senior executive's last stint in Asia was with McCann Erickson Japan. Amour will be based in Singapore, where Grey re-established a fully-owned agency in October.
