American jeans brand rolls out two Asian stores

ASIA-PACIFIC: Continuing its regional expansion, Mudd Jeans has opened concept stores in Hong Kong and Seoul, its first in Asia.

The US jeans brand said it was testing the store concept in Asia to blend Mudd's hip image with Asia's shopping culture. Both stores will stock a wide array of Mudd's products, from jeans to sweaters, footwear, bags and household ware. Along with the concept store, Mudd is also preparing to open a 20,000-square foot retail outlet - Denim City - in Hong Kong next month, stocking other jeans brands.

The store openings are being supported by an interactive campaign and the launch of a website, according to Mudd Jeans (Far East) consultant, Kenneth Lai.

He said Mudd had also embarked on franchising in other key Asian markets, including China, Thailand and Singapore.
