Air Asia looks to OMD for hotel push

KUALA LUMPUR - Air Asia has appointed OMD for media duties on Tune Hotel, a new budget hotel chain partly owned by the low-cost carrier.

The agency was awarded the account after a competitive pitch against an unknown number of agencies. An incumbent creative agency has yet to be decided.

Last month Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes announced the expansion of the budget hotel chain across the region, with five new hotels in Malaysia slated to open next month.

The hotels are aimed at complementing Air Asia flights.

Fellow Omnicom agency PHD currently handles the Air Asia business.
