AIME 2006 was shifted to June 6 and 7 due to the
preparations for the Commonwealth Games that
were held in Melbourne last month.
Rosemarie Sama, AIME event director, said the
decision was made after surveying exhibitors,
hosted buyers and trade visitors and discussing
availability with the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
She said: "When we considered the results of
our surveys, availability of dates at the venue and the timing of other major meetings, incentives and
business travel events around the world, February
provided the best longterm option.
"We are making this announcement prior to
AIME 2006 to give exhibitors as much time as
possible to plan for AIME 2007."
RTE has accelerated its planning procedures and
will have exhibition rates, floorplans and priority
booking forms available at AIME 2006.
The new AIME 2007 website and marketing
campaign will commence on June 8, immediately
following AIME 2006.
The exhibition prospectus will be available online
in July.
The organisation of the Commonwealth Games
will be one of the case studies presented at
AIME 2006.
Peter Jones of Peter Jones Special Events will
speak in 'Best in the Business', part of the AIME
Business Events Forum and will be held on the
morning of June 7. Other case studies are:
Jim Clarke, managing director, Nuance Multimedia
Australia, speaking on last year's Forbes CEO
conference; Nigel Gaunt, managing director, the
Mint Organisation and CEI Asia Pacific columnist, on
a Middle Eastern incentive trip to South Africa;
and Robin Lokerman, CEO Institutional Division,
MCI, on the World Congress of Nephrology,
Singapore 2005.
AIME 2006 will include more than 850 exhibitors
from Asia Pacific and other parts of the world.
AIME is owned by the Melbourne Convention
and Visitors Bureau and organised by RTE.
