Agency of the Year Awards receives record entries; regional judging underway

ASIA-PACIFIC - Campaign Asia-Pacific's Agency of the Year Awards programme, which has been expanded this year to five regional competitions, has received a record number of entries, including a 12 per cent increase in entries from Australia/New Zealand and a 35 per cent increase in entries from Japan/Korea.

Judging is now underway for the five regions of the Agency of the Year Awards. They are:

Regionwide, entries increased 11 per cent, from 335 last year to 372 this year. Agencies in Australia and New Zealand submitted 64 entries, up 12 per cent from 57 last year. Meanwhile, agencies in Japan and Korea submitted 31 entries, up 35 per cent over last year's total of 23. Greater China (66 per cent), and Southeast Asia (33 per cent) also saw increases, while South Asia received the same number of entries as last year.

Shortlists for each region will be released late this month. The awards for Australia/New Zealand, Japan/Korea, Southeast Asia and South Asia will be presented in Singapore on 10 December at the St. Regis Singapore. The Greater China awards ceremony takes place 13 December at the Hyatt Bund in Shanghai.

The Network of the Year winners will be recognised at a separate event in 2013. Eligibility for the Network of the Year Awards will be based on performance in the regional awards.

The changes to the awards this year came as a result of direct industry feedback and are aimed at giving the industry an awards competition that is completely transparent and ensures that the winners truly are the best performers, both locally and regionally. The changes are designed to allow agencies (big and small) and their talent to compete in their local markets, with the added opportunity of regional and network recognition.
