Singapore telecommunications companies have soared to the top of the latest Adwatch survey in the island republic as two of the main players - StarHub and M1 - rolled out major campaigns to promote their service offering.
The telcos each achieved a recall level of 90 per cent.
StarHub had two TVCs - a continuation of its 'Hubbing' corporate brand campaign as well as spots promoting its 018 long distance IDD service.
M1 launched a corporate advertising campaign in the lead up to its IPO in early December. The TVCs highlighted the company's high standard of customer service, the fact it has more than one million customers and that its multimedia messaging service is a big hit in the country.
Banks also scored highly, in particular campaigns by DBS and OCBC, which promoted their financial planning products.
Jastina Balen, Batey group account director on OCBC, said that people were more predisposed to thinking about their future at the end of the year.
"I think these commercials gained high recall because they are quite evocative and people can relate to the characters. It shows people in different life stages," she added.
The DBS campaign, for instance, shows a taxi driver and a young mother pondering their future, with the former thinking about his retirement and the latter wondering how to pay for her child's university education.
Air Pork - a new brand launched in Singapore more than a year ago by Australian Pork - was a newcomer to the top 20 chart as the company stepped up its marketing drive to promote its range of pork products in the island republic.
