Adspend in Asia forecast to rise by four per cent

ASIA-PACIFIC: Advertising spend in the region this year is tipped to grow by 4.1 per cent to US$64.5 billion compared with 2002, despite Sars and a sluggish global economy, according to a report by ZenithOptimedia.

Zenith regional director Roland Crouch said that China, South Korea and India would fuel the rise on the back of strong economic conditions.

However, Hong Kong, which bore the brunt of the Sars outbreak, will see adspend contract by about 11 per cent this year.

Prior to Sars, Zenith predicted the territory's advertising expenditure would expand by approximately four per cent.
