Adidas reviews $512 million global media account

WPP Media’s EssenceMediacom is the incumbent.

Adidas: WPP has held the account for eight years

Adidas has launched a competitive review of its global media account.

WPP Media shop EssenceMediacom is the incumbent on the account, which was won as a MediaCom client in 2018, prior to the agency’s merger with Essence.

Before appointing MediaCom in 2018, Adidas worked with Dentsu agency Carat in a relationship spanning two decades.

Globally, the account was worth $512 million in billings in 2025, according to COMvergence — $26 million of which was attributed to the UK.

Adidas and EssenceMediacom have both been approached for comment.

EssenceMediacom’s work for Adidas has included planning and buying for its “You got this” brand platform and “The Original” campaign – both of which have earned it a spot on the Campaign Media Awards shortlist this year.

Creatively, the brand works with Johannes Leonardo — the New York based ad agency behind Samuel L Jackson’s Superstar spot and 2025’s "Original forever" tie-in with Oasis’ reunion tour.
