Interpublic Group owns all three agencies and Campbell-Ewald has to team up with a multinational agency to service the account internationally because it only has offices in the US and Germany.
Peter Cheung, FCB group account director, will work on the account alongside Peter Nunn, FCB regional director of client services. Ben Barnes, FCB Asia-Pacific president and chief executive officer, said Campbell-Ewald instigated the move to ensure a more consistent international alignment.
He pointed out that FCB already had the account in Europe. The regional account involves all above- and below-the-line work as well as media.
It is divided into seven parts - Australia/New Zealand; Japan; Korea; China/Hong Kong; India; Taiwan and Asean countries.
Nunn said: "This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the strength of the FCB network and we look forward to developing relations with General Motors. The car giant owns AC Delco and, interestingly, FCB has yet to win a regional car account to make up for the loss two years ago of Chrysler.
