Abe joined Beacon on loan from Dentsu in 2001 after a decade as copywriter and commercial planner in the Japanese giant’s Kansai regional office. Having spent five years at Beacon in Tokyo, he was transferred back to Dentsu to work at the Tokyo head office in 2006.
In his previous role at Beacon, Abe worked on a number of domestic and international accounts including Renault, Ezaki Glico, Zojirushi, Procter & Gamble and Aiful, among others.
Commenting on his return to the Publicis Groupe agency, Abe emphasised his desire to establish Beacon as a creative laboratory. He added that he hoped to employ his previous experience to build a more holistic approach to the creation of campaigns and to cultivate a team with the ability to operate effectively across all media.
He will report to Beacon’s president, Nicolas Menat.
Beacon is the result of the merger in Japan of D’Arcy and Leo Burnett. Upon its establishment in 2001, it received significant investment of equity, talent and resources from Dentsu.
