Abbott hires M&C for infant milk brief

SHANGHAI - Abbott has hired M&C Saatchi Shanghai as creative agency-of-record for its infant milk formula in China ahead of a concerted push to gain share in the market following the melamine scandal.

M&C won the Abbott brief in a pitch against Publicis, Lowe and two other agencies. The agency will handle a marketing communications campaign next year as Abbott looks to build its presence.

Abbott China’s marketing director Yan Chen confirmed the appointment, adding that the client was looking for “a creative and simple idea with strategic thinking behind it”.

"It is very good timing for international brands after the product quality scandal in China," said a source.
