GLOBAL - CNN.com has announced that nearly 1.5 billion video streams were viewed in 2008, up 86 per cent from videos viewed in 2007.

Among CNN’s key findings was the heightened popularity of its video streams surrounding the US Presidential election as the network claimed 30 million unique visitors visited the site on Election Day.

It further noted that CNN.com Live delivered an average of 9.6 million streams each day, up 294 per cent from 2007.

William Hsu, vice president advertising sales Asia-Pacific, said the figure is representative of the growth of the online video sector as a whole, saying in a release the finding is “a fantastic milestone and attests to the legitimacy and high engagement value of the video format in the online world.”
