Nissan and TBWA/Hakuhodo have set up a store on Amazon to sell a collection of products including a box of snow, a piece of driftwood, a large boulder, and industrial-sized barrels of water.
The hook? The products, as seen in the video above, are "inspired from trekking and outdoor activities and chosen in collaboration with professional athletes".
Like a recent Cheetos promotion (see Cheetos offers bronzer, perfume, other cheesy gifts), the company is serious about selling the items, which are set to become available on Thursday (19 January). That said, the fine print for the boulder, for example, indicates that there will be a rigorous process to make sure the buyer is capable of taking delivery of such an unwieldy item—not to mention paying the shipping costs.
Meanwhile, a social-media campaign invites people to submit their own product requests for the store. In addition, the collection will be exhibited at Nissan's global headquarters from tomorrow through Sunday, alongside the X-Trail Hybrid SUV that the whole concept is promoting.
Ad Nut enjoyed perusing the product descriptions on the Amazon site, which come with amusing illustrations such as this suggestion for re-creating a waterfall at home:

And this one for the boulder:

If Ad Nut were going to join the social-media campaign, the suggested products would be:
- A stuffed dog, inspired by the sport of purposely antagonizing and taunting murderous beasts from a safe spot partway up a tree.
- A bronze casting of a tyre tread, inspired by squirrel-kind's most dangerous sport: running into the street directly in front of a speeding vehicle and then dodging at the last possible second to avoid becoming roadkill.
Here's some past Nissan X-Trail work that Ad Nut and friends also enjoyed:
