MediaTV: Fred Koblinger in the Yahoo Big Idea Chair

ASIA-PACIFIC - Fred Koblinger, CEO of PKP Proximity and BBDO Holding of Austria, says that while 'scam' ads serve a purpose in the advertising world, they are dangerous because they set unrealistic standards of creativity.

In the interview, which runs part of MediaTV's Yahoo Big Idea Chair series, Koblinger says that “on one hand, I think we need this sort of creativity to prove that we can go further than we are with most of our clients”, but award shows should be wary of celebrating such ads.

Koblinger, who served as the president for digital, direct and promo at this year’s Spikes Asia, also talks about Asia’s use of digital and recalls the moment he knew digital was here to stay.

Filmed at Spikes Asia, the interviews in the Yahoo Big Idea Chair will run over the coming weeks.

Previous interviews in the chair include David Droga, founder and creative chairman of Droga5, and Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and creative director of Ogilvy & Mather India and South Asia.
