Annual event drew 1,200 runners; winning team gets HK$80,000 for chosen charity.

The third annual running of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay in Hong Kong took place Thursday. 

In addition to title sponsor Bloomberg and partner World Wide Technology, the race was supported by Compressport, Topfit, Peroni, Lanson Place Hotel, Thomas Lyte, Dalloyau, and Bonaqua. Teams from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Macquarie, Goldman Sachs, Citi and HSBC, among many others, participated.

The race takes place in seven cities: Dubai, Sydney, New York, London, Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong, with further cities to be added in 2017.

For the second straight year, a team from the English Schools Foundation (ESF) won the HK$80,000 (US$10,311) prize, which it donated to its nominated charity, IndoChina Starfish Foundation. The ESF team completed the ten laps of the one-mile (1.6 km) course in 55:57. Macquarie Group and Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Blue Team) came in at 56:10 and 59:06 respectively. A ESF team also won the inaugural fastest mixed team award in 1:05:47. The fastest Individual, Sam Fletcher from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Blue Team), completed the one-mile route in a time of 04:56.
