Catch up on past people moves and business wins

Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia appointed Jingwei Wong as creative group head, reporting to Gavin Simpson, chief creative officer. Wong will principally lead Coca-Cola output. He was most recently senior writer at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur.

Publicis One Philippines promoted Raoul Panes to chief creative officer. He will continue his current position as chief creative officer of Leo Burnett Group Manila and will oversee the creative output of all agencies within Publicis One: Leo Burnett, Publicis Manila, Publicis Jimenez Basic, Arc, Blackpencil, Zenith and Starcom.

Project Worldwide appointed Chris Dobson, formerly managing director at Imagination Asia, to lead The Labs, an experience-design consultancy it is launching in Hong Kong. The HK office joins a Sydney location, led by former Telstra executive David Woodbridge over the last year. 

Williams Lea Tag appointed Louise Finlay as APAC chief operating officer. She joins from Kingfisher Asia, where she was global strategic sourcing lead, offer and supply chain.

Golin hired Ben Evetts as executive director in Hong Kong, responsible for the agency’s corporate, technology and financial practices. Evetts brings 17 years’ experience to the role, and was previously vice president for corporate and technology at Golin’s IPG sister agency Weber Shandwick in Singapore. Evetts has worked across Asia, Europe and the Middle East, for clients including Mastercard, FWD, SABIC and HP. 

BBDO Guerrero appointed Manuel Villafania as creative director, working across regional and local accounts. He was previously with Ace Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA\SMP.

Ogilvy & Mather Indonesia promoted Misty Maitimoe to managing director of Ogilvy Public Relations Indonesia effective immediately.  Formerly deputy managing director at the firm, Misty's promotion follows the departure of outgoing MD Marianne Admardatine.

J Walter Thompson Melbourne added John West to its roster of Simplot brands following a pitch. The agency says it is now the "agency of choice" for Simplot’s entire brand portfolio: Leggo’s, Birds Eye, Lean Cuisine, I&J and Chicken Tonight in addition to John West. The remit includes creative, brand strategy, shopper and social.

Leverate Media Asia appointed Samantha Phillips as the VP of client services in Singapore. After a decade of offline marketing, this is her first digital role taken on after graduating from Google Square in 2017.

FCB Malaysia made the following promotions: James Voon to senior art director, Syed Ferohaizal to head of creative, Syahriza Badron to senior account director (handling Motorola, Desaru Coast and RHB), Eva Lim to senior account manager (Motorola), Karan Chhabra also to senior account manager (Beiersdorf), Eldon D’Cruz to planning director, Jamie Tan to operations director.

CASBAA, the Asian non-profit media and audio-visual content industry association elected several new first-time directors to its board.  These are James Ross (Lightning International), Belinda Lui (Time Warner), and Desmond Chan (TVB).  Also re-elected were previous directors Joe Welch (21st Century Fox), Andrew Jordan (AsiaSat), Ricky Ow (Turner Asia Pacific), and Amit Malhotra (The Walt Disney Company).

Rebecca Lin joined Harley-Davidson China as government affairs lead. She moved from Ogilvy Public Relations Beijing where she was working for over seven years. 

Louis Vuitton Hong Kong appointed Queenie Mak as its communication director. She joined the luxury brand after three years at Gucci, most recently as marketing and communications director. 

Robert Cheng branched out to communications at Rosewood Hotel Group as vice president of brand marketing and communications based in Hong Kong. He was previously group vice president of marketing for Peninsula Hotels.

Dennis Owen joined Hong Kong Airlines as general manager, branding and social media. Dennis was a long-serving executive for Cathay Pacific.

Cobinhood, a cryptocurrency service platform, appointed ex-Agoda Joanne Chang as its marketing communications director, based in Taipei.
