The credit crisis has slowed down developing markets in Asia-Pacific with a forecast adspend down from 5.2 per cent to 3.2 per cent in 2009. North America will see a decline to 5.7 per cent and 1 per cent in Western Europe. Central and Eastern Europe are also set to fall from a predicted 12.7 per cent to just 1.5 per cent.
Forecasts remain healthy in South America, which is expected to grow by 14.9 per cent.
ZenithOptimedia predicts a tough first quarter with a mild recovery by the beginning of the third quarter. However, it still expects the developing markets to contribute 89 per cent of all ad expenditure between 2008 and 2011 an increase in adspend from 30 to 36 per cent globally.
