WPP announces Vietnam PR deal

HO CHI MINH CITY - WPP's Ogilvy & Mather will launch a new venture in Vietnam with local public relations business T&A Communications.

WPP announces Vietnam PR deal
The venture builds on Ogilvy’s eight-year working relationship with the PR firm.

T&A was founded in 1995 and offers consumer PR, events management, sports and social marketing and branding. Its key clients include Canon, Boeing, Nestlé Vietnam, Standard Chartered Bank and Temasek.

Alan Couldrey, Ogilvy & Mather’s regional director for Indochina, said: “Ogilvy and T&A have worked together for many years, and we are delighted that T&A is officially joining the Ogilvy group. There are numerous opportunities to build new practices and professionalism into the Vietnamese PR industry, which is still relatively new, and T&A Ogilvy is an ideal platform to leverage this.”

The venture marks WPP’s third in Vietnam. Earlier this year, WPP acquired a 20 per cent stake in local firm Smart Media, a venture by privately-owned GoldSun together with state-owned Vietnam Posts and Telecommunication Group, Vietnam Television, Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services and Vietnam Post Corporation.

In 2008, the group acquired 30 per cent stakes in three subsidiaries of Datviet VAC Group Holdings.

T&A Ogilvy will be part of Ogilvy & Mather Group in Vietnam, which includes Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, Ogilvy Public Relations, OgilvyOne, OgilvyAction and Redworks.
