Twitter activates @earlybird account to promote advertiser offers

GLOBAL – Twitter has launched an internally managed e-commerce account called @earlybird to tweet offers from selected advertisers.

Twitter's @earlybird is focusing on the US market only during the first stage. The account will offer exclusive deals from selected advertising partners. Twitter will post offers online on behalf of the advertisers in exchange for a fee.

@earlybird is set to promote time-bound deals, sneak-peeks and events deal. Instead of just listing the nationwide offers, Twitter has plans to localise the advertisements in specific cities and districts.

People can retweet the advertiser offers from their accounts but the retweet will be clearly marked as @earlybird to avoid any problems.

Twitter has looked into creating a sustainable revenue-generating model since the launch of its Twitter Business Center in May.
