BEIJING - Chinese media conglomerate Tom Group's internet arm is hoping to capitalise on the PRC's young female, fashion-obsessed audience through an exclusive Chinese-language tie up with Swedish virtual market Stardoll.

The mainland market for virtual goods remains larger than the online advertising sector. Currently attracting eight million unique visitors every month, Stardoll is an international fashion community where teen and tween girls (who make up 94 per cent of the visitors) can create an avatar, shop for virtual fashion and furnish personalised suites, all using the site’s virtual currency, Stardollars.
