Quality facilities, new properties

As well as Mumbai's established hotels, the city is seeing new openings in developing districts

Quality facilities, new properties

TAJ MAHAL PALACE AND TOWER
This classy business hotel, which has been open since 1903, sits right next to the Gateway of India in the south of the city. Delegates looking for a piece of colonial history would be wise to stay at this property.
The grand staircase leads up to the first floor’s 12 banquet rooms, which can comfortably seat 25 to 500 people auditorium style or 18 to 2,000 people for cocktails. A more unusual venue is the chef studio where up to ten people can watch their meal being cooked in front of them by the hotel’s chef.
The exclusive Chambers Club is on the hotel’s top floor, but is reserved for the Indian elite. HSBC, Belvedere Vodka and Microsoft have all recently held events here.

GRAND HYATT MUMBAI
This Santa Cruz property is located very close to the domestic airport. The hotel offers ten
meeting spaces for eight to 2,000 people.
Nearly 60 per cent of the hotel’s 547 rooms are the same category which allows meeting
organisers to give delegates the same standard of accommodation. There are five restaurants
including the popular China House and M Bar, with Mumbai’s most extensive martini list with a choice of more than 40 different kinds of martinis. The hotel recently organised an event for IBM and the Intel Global CEO’s summit.

mix of restaurants and bars such as Lake View Café, Emperor’s Court (Chinese), Nawab
Saheb (Indian) and Bombay Express (Deli).

TAJ LANDS END
This hotel may be away from the busy tourist hub of Colaba but it is located in Bandra, one of the most fashionable areas of Mumbai and its neighbours include several Bollywood stars. Taj Group took over the property – which was formerly the Regent – in 2002 and have transformed it into a slick business hotel. The hotel has views of the Arabian Sea with 368 rooms, which will be increased to 487 by September. The banqueting floor has its own entrance and the emerald lawns can fit up to 600 people theatre style and up to 1,200 people for receptions, which are frequently Bollywood themed because of the hotel’s elite location.
