PRWEEK: Alintuck to head Edelman China amid Lamb's exit

BEIJING: Less than five months after being appointed Edelman China MD, Mark Lamb has left the firm amid reports of a culture clash at the consultancy's Beijing operations. The decision was made by Edelman Asia-Pacific president Alan VanderMolen, who put the former Ogilvy PR Taiwan head's departure down to a cultural mismatch.

"I think Mark (Lamb) is a very talented guy, but the (Edelman) culture didn't suit him," he said.

In a bid to maintain momentum at the consultancy's Beijing office, VanderMolen has hired former Burson-Marsteller associate and regional corporate and healthcare heavyweight Martin Alintuck to take the lead.

VanderMolen claims Alintuck is "China-proven", having formerly headed B-M's Shanghai office and moving on to head up the consultancy'sTokyo operations until 1999.

Alintuck winds down his San Francisco-based strategic comms business by June, when he re-locates to oversee a China team including Shanghai GM and China marketing practice director, Andrew Silver, Beijing GM Alistair Nicholas, and Guangzhou account director Denise Guo.
