PR WEEK: Wang joins Upstream as first GM

TAIPEI: Upstream Asia has appointed Alice Wang as its first general manager for its Taiwan operations.

PR WEEK: Wang joins Upstream as first GM

"We've (grown) in Taiwan by working with many of our regional clients," said Upstream Asia CEO David Ketchum.

"With ongoing assignments and projects from these clients, as well as companies Upstream serves in Taiwan only, we have the market presence and growth opportunity to bring someone of Alice's skills and seniority into our firm."

In addition, Ketchum points to business development opportunities as another reason for Wang's recruitment: "She will bring an added level of experience to clients and will also be involved in building the team and business development."

Wang has spent the last two years working as an independent consultant for the likes of Nike, Dunhill Tobacco and L'Oreal.

Previously, she served as PR manager for e-commerce firm pAsia Inc and regional marketing manager for Mister Minit, overseeing marketing programmes in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

Wang began her career in public relations at Edelman Taiwan, managing clients such as Cartier, Hermes and Campbell's Soup, among others.
