OMG hires regional director for digital

ASIA-PACIFIC - Omnicom Media Group (OMG) has appointed a regional digital head as it looks to bolster its interactive operations.

OMG hires regional director for digital
OMG has announced that Lee Smith, digital director at OMD Canada, as its online chief in Asia. His role will be to co-ordinate and expand the digital activities of OMD and sister agency PHD.

Smith, who built OMD’s digital business in Canada, will be based in Singapore and report to Barry Cupples (pictured), CEO of OMG Asia-Pacific. He will start on 1 February and work closely with Jason Kuperman, VP for digital development at Omnicom.

OMG has been searching for a regional digital head for most of this year. Early in 2008 it launched an audit of its Asian media offering led by its New York-based East Coast director of digital services Suhaila Suhimi-Waldner.

“It’s been a big growth year for OMG in digital,” said an Omnicom source. “It’s time for it to organise its offering to handle that growth.”
