Nikkei signs deal with Time Inc for Real Simple rights

Real Simple, a lifestyle magazine that promises busy women information and inspiration to help them stay in control of their lives, is the second foreign licensing deal for NBP, which already publishes the Japanese edition of National Geographic magazine.

NBP plans to publish the first issue of Real Simple's Japanese edition of next year. Further details are due in February.

Real Simple has gained a 1.8 million circulation in the US since publishing its first issue in March 2000.

Time Inc's Time, Fortune, Sports Illustrated and People magazine titles are also published in Japan.

Nikkei BP launched several new magazines earlier this year, including Nikkei Characters, an animation title targeting men in their 30s, and Nikkei Automotive Technology, a quarterly for engineers.
