GLOBAL - Havas' MPG and Omnicom Media Group are through to the final round of Hyundai Kia Automotive Group's estimated US$1 billion global media planning and buying review for its Hyundai and Kia brands.

MPG and OMG shortlisted for Hyundai/Kia global media pitch
Aegis’ Carat and GroupM (led by MEC) have both confirmed they are out of the pitch. Earlier reports also suggested that agencies from Interpublic and Publicis Groupe were involved in the review. However, representatives could not be reached to confirm their position in the global media pitch.

Sources suggest that the shortlisted agencies have already started preparing for the next stage of review.

A few weeks ago it was revealed the automobile company had split the business of its Hyundai and Kia brands as part of the review.

Hyundai Kia Automotive Group started the pitch process in the second week of July. The bulk of its business is currently being handled by OMD International, ZenithOptimedia and Initiative.

At stake is media planning and buying in most of the 170-plus countries in which the company currently operates. The selected agency is to take over the worldwide business by January 2010. However, the US, Australia and China are now not thought to be included in the pitch. Hyundai operates a joint venture in the latter.
