The title plans to position itself as a friend and advisor to differentiate itself in China's competitive female magazines segment. Marie Claire - Jian Mei Nu Xing will be published under a tripartite partnership of Hachette Filipacchi Media, Groupe Marie Claire and China Sports Corporation.

Gu Ming, associate publisher of Hachette Filipacchi Media China division, said the focus and design of the China title would be in line with international editions, but it would include extensive local content. "The key for the new title will be its solutions-driven editorial and sense of humour and reality, said Gu.

An initial print run of 250,000 copies is planned for the launch, which will be supported by an advertising campaign in the major cities created by M&C Saatchi.
