CONVENTION HUB
Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Without a doubt, this state-of-the-art convention centre – which industry players have described as a ‘first-class’ venue – has given an enormous boost to Kuala Lumpur’s standing as city for meetings and conventions.
Fully integrated, with an extensive range of facilities under one roof and with 1,500 hotel rooms on-site and another 10,000 within a ten-minute walk, KLCC has set the standard for the next generation of purpose-built convention and exhibition centres in Asia.
The centre recently spent US$815,000 on a Jands Vista T4 – a high-end lighting console
that allows users to pre-programme the lighting and sound effects of their event in
advance – including timing sequences for light shows, changes in colour, music and
mood, and the release of special effects such as smoke.
LUXURY HOTELS
The arrival of the much-respected Traders Hotel last June has helped further cement the centre’s appeal. The hotel, which is part of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, offers direct escalator access to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). It adds 571 rooms and suites to the 1,500 on site.
Located by the Petronas Twin Towers and overlooking KLCC Park, the Mandarin Oriental has 643 rooms designed to accent the Malaccan wood features used throughout. The hotel can cater for gatherings of up to 2,400 people.
