Jiefang Daily appoints Precision Digital Marketing
The five-year contract makes Precision the exclusive representative for ad sales online. It will also develop strategic promotions and maximise the portal’s usability.

Ken Wong, Precision’s director of client servicing for Greater China, projects an approximate Rmb 10 million (US$1.5 million) in revenue on the first year of ad sales. The site claims 90 million page views per month.

Although the site enjoys a high traffic rate, group account director Clement Cheng mentions one of the key challenge is to ‘re-brand the impression’ of the news portal due the governmental runs history. Secondly, Precision needs to commercializing the website and create ‘stickiness’ from site visitors.

Precision plans to launch the first campaign early August. A subsidiary sales unit of Precision will handle the project.

Launched in 1949, Jiefang Daily is run by the Shanghai Committee of Communist Party of China. The daily circulation is 700,000 copies. The online portal JFDaily.com was launched in 2003. Separately, the media group signed yesterday as one of the three leading media sponsors for the Shanghai World Expo in 2010.
