The decision to split the account has prompted companies such as GroupM and OMG to enter the review under their umbrella brands with different agencies assigned to pitch for the two accounts.
Earlier reports also suggest agencies from Interpublic and Publicis Groupe are involved in the review.
The stakes of the pitch are the media planning and buying activities in the 170-plus countries in which the company currently operates. The selected agency is to take over the worldwide business by January 2010. However, China is not thought to be included as Hyundai operates a joint venture there.
Hyundai Kia’s business is currently handled by OMD International, ZenithOptimedia and Initiative in different worldwide markets.
