The appointment last month came after a review. A person familar with the matter said five agencies pitched to Elephanti but couldn't specify who those agencies were owing to confidentiality issues.
Elephanti is a website and mobile app designed for people to connect with their favorite stores, venues and brands, according to the company.
Hoffman's experience in serving technolgy clients may have helped it clinch the deal. Some of the Silicon Valley-based agency's other technology clients include Cisco, Brother, Google and PayPal as well as travel client, CheapTickets.sg.
“The Hoffman Agency’s expertise and track record in servicing both consumer and technology accounts will help Elephanti to increase its visibility to the retail and consumer segments,” said Lalin Michael Jinasena, founder and CEO of Elephanti.
Hoffman wasn't able to comment on the nature of work it will be doing for Elephanti but said "it will showcase Elephanti as an innovator in engaging their target audience".
Ogilvy New York helped Elephanti launch at the Internet Week New York a couple months ago. Since then, more than 1000 retail and lifestyle businesses have signed up as Elephanti merchants in New York and San Francisco.
Singapore is the first country in Asia to have the app.
